the best apps for self-care and wellness

We have the whole world at our fingertips. While our digital devices certainly have their pros and cons, they can be used for so much good. For starters, they can be super helpful for staying on track and taking care of ourselves—especially with self-care apps.

Over the years I’ve tried so many apps to help me stay on top of my health goals—ranging from physical health to mental health. I’ve grown to love a handful of self-care apps that have helped me tremendously in taking care of myself.

Here are some of my favorite apps for self-care and wellness.

Insight Timer

This is one of my favorite self-care apps. I have been using this since I was a freshman in high school, so for almost ten years. It’s wild how time flies! I first started using this to help with anxiety when I was a teen and now I love to use this app to practice mindfulness and manifestation techniques.

This app is an incredible resource for meditations and self-improvement audio courses. It’s got every type of meditation you could dream of—everything from morning meditations to immunity boosters to affirmations for abundance.

I primarily use Insight Timer for the thousands of free meditations, but with a membership, you get lots of other amazing content. You really don’t need a membership though, as the majority of the meditations are free.

Speaking of meditation, check out my post on other easy ways to practice mindfulness (that aren’t meditation).

AllTrails

I love this app so much. It’s an app that shows you all the best hiking trails in the area. You can filter the results by difficulty, length, ratings, and more. I love using this when I’m traveling to find nature spots I’d only know about if I was a local.

Breathwrk

This app is incredible for practicing breathwork. It has saved me so many times when I’ve been stressed or overwhelmed at work. I’d take a quick break to the bathroom, pull up this app, spend a few minutes deep breathing, and would feel so much better afterward.

Forest

This is the cutest app! I’ve had it since I was in high school and I adore it. It’s a focus timer centered around creating a forest. The more you focus, the more trees and flowers are planted—it’s so fun. I use this app anytime I need to focus—for anything from studying to reading to working.

Strong

This app is so helpful for tracking gym workouts. I use it for weightlifting to track the exact exercises I do as well as the amount of reps, sets, and weights I lift. It’s so nice to be able to see how far you’ve come and it makes the gym so much more fun.

Pinterest

Pinterest changed my life. It’s a vision board app, a manifestation app, and my number one source of motivation. Anything I want, I keep track of it on Pinterest—and I always end up getting what I want 😉

Here’s my Pinterest page.

Youtube

Youtube can be an incredible source of inspiration and knowledge. Of course, as with any form of social media, it all depends on who you follow. Only follow people whose life you want. Only listen to people who provide value to your life and make you want to lead a better one.

Apple Health

For a while, I wasn’t really too sure how to use this app. It was just my step tracker for the longest time. Now I love this app. I connected many of my other apps such as Insight Timer, AllTrails, and Strong, so now I see all my mindfulness and physical activity on one page. It’s so fun to be able to track all the aspects of my health in one place.
