the best feel-good cozy movies

I’m particular about the media I consume. These days I’m pretty protective over my mind, my energy, and my peace. It’s everything to me. Because of this, I typically steer clear of anything super violent or scary. I prefer softer media, movies, and TV shows that leave me feeling warm and inspired afterward. That being said, here are my favorite feel-good cozy movies.

Ponyo

Studio Ghibli movies are the ultimate feel-good movies. Ponyo is one of my favorites for a cozy watch because it’s so wholesome and sweet and I love the scenery by the water.

Moonrise Kingdom

This movie was so precious. It was all about love, pure innocent love. Also, the visuals were gorgeous.

Here’s a link to rent this on Amazon.

Aquamarine

I saw this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I adored it.

It’s about love and how it can be found everywhere—not just in romantic contexts. It’s so wholesome, girly, and warm. It’s the perfect feel-good summer movie.

My Neighbor Totoro

Studio Ghibli again, naturally. This one is so soft and I love the nature visuals in it.

Mission Joy – Finding Happiness in Troubled Times

It’s not a movie, it’s a documentary, but it was so wholesome I had to mention it.

It showcases the most beautiful adult friendship I’ve ever seen—especially between men. I felt so lighthearted and full of love after watching it.

The Kings of Summer

This made me feel so alive, like I could do anything. It’s such a freeing watch and is perfect for summer.

Whisper of the Heart

Are we surprised Studio Ghibli is on here for the third time? I loved this and it reminded me of the importance of having our own desires, pursuits, and dreams just for ourselves.

Fantasia

Some parts are a little more intense, but this is an all-time favorite of mine. I first watched this as a little girl on VHS tape, lying on the carpet of my playroom gazing wide-eyed at the cube television.

I’ll always have a soft spot for the pastoral symphony scene with the angels and centaurs. It’s so magical.

Little Miss Sunshine

So cute, so wholesome. It’s the ultimate uplifting and feel-good movie. Also, “f*ck beauty contests!”

Barbie as the Princess & the Pauper

Last but certainly not least, the classic Barbie movies. I have a special place in my heart for the Princess and the Pauper film, but really any older Barbie movie will do.
